My Background
Originally from Arlington, TX, I've lived in Colorado now for the last 33 years. After obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Development, I had the privilege of working at University Hospital teaching Positive Parenting Skills to first time families. I also provided post-partum follow up visit and breast feeding support. Having worked in the service industry for years, it was a natural transition for me to continue my love to serve and help others when I became a Medical Assistant. I have worked with the wonderful providers at Lone Tree OBGYN & Midwives for almost 11 years gaining knowledge in Women's Healthcare from gynecology to prenatal, birth, and post partum. I have attended DONA International Childbirth Education classes and Birth Doula Certification Courses.
My husband and I have 4 miracles of our own. Our birth journey was one of extreme happiness and sadness as we experienced together a traumatic birth and pregnancy losses. Today, my purpose is to help provide support and guidance for clients undergoing the miracle of pregnancy.
When I'm not helping families in their birth experience, I am working at Lone Tree OBGYN & Midwives or attending baseball, soccer, and various children's activities. As a family, we love the outdoors and spend time skiing, paddle boarding, fishing, camping, and riding horses. We also belong to Plum Creek Community Church in Castle Rock, CO.

Answering all Your Questions
How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?
This is often the most commonly asked question and for good reason. The most simple answer is that a Doula knows birth, and your partner knows you best. My goal is to work as a team providing emotional, physical, and informational support to you as a couple. I absolutely do not replace your partner. Rather, we work together to support you. A Doula is professionally trained in the process of birth, labor progression, pain management techniques, and about procedures during your birth. Your partner is completely connected to you and knows what motivates you, what encourages you, and when you are stressed or anxious. We collaboratively work as a team each bringing our knowledge and emotional support to best complete the amazing birth story you desire. This is your birth story, and I am there to simply help you both achieve your desired birth plan.
Do you perform any physical examinations?
As a Doula, my role is completely different than your doctor, midwife, or RN. We do not provide medical intervention such as cervical checks, blood pressure, or fetal heart monitoring. It is out of our scope of practice to give medical advice or diagnose conditions. As a Professional Doula, we honor your choices in labor and we do not make any decisions for you. Rather, we advocate, educate and empower you to ask questions so you can make the best informed decision for you and your baby. Working as a pregnancy support team with your doctor or midwife, we together keep you and your baby safe.
How much does it cost to hire you as my Doula?
I work on a sliding fee scale because each client and their situation can be different. I accept venmo, zelle, cash or check. I do require a retaining fee of $750.00 once you have hired me as your doula. This is a deposit to retain your spot as I only take on a few clients each month. This covers your pre-natal visits, helping you create your birth plan, discussing comfort measures, and how to listen to your body. As a professional Doula, I collect my final fee of $750.00 usually around your 37th week of pregnancy.
Do you do homebirths? Where are you allowed to be?
Homebirths can be one of the most beautiful experiences for you and your family. I work in a home setting, birth center, or hospital setting as long as a midwife or doctor are present for the birth.

How I Assist
Prenatal Visits
I see each pregnancy as a unique miracle. I take on a limited number of clients at any one time to ensure I can give you the full care and attention you deserve. By offering Prenatal Visits, my goal is to reduce any stress, allowing you to pay attention to your body and your baby. I meet with you and your partner several times prior to your delivery to understand your birth expectations, discuss any fears/concerns, your best ways of coping with pain and fatigue, and help you create your unique birth plan. I am with you pre-natal, delivery, and post-natal. I look forward to being a support system for you, your partner, and a small part of your amazing birth story.
Birthing Guidance
With my Birthing Guidance, I offer unwavering support to you, your partner, and your family before, during and after birth. I will stay in close contact in order to routinely check how you’re doing and step in with anything you might need. Once a labor pattern is established, I am by your side providing mental, physical, and emotional support to you and your partner. I enjoy helping women embark on their birthing journey gently through breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, birth positions, and aromatherapy. We will work together to best execute your labor plan, and I will work as an advocate for you to ensure the best experience possible. Once baby is born, I stay with you and family to answer any questions or address any needs. A week after you have settled at home, I provide a professional home cooked meal and offer any post-partum support, referrals, or guidance needed.

I can truly say that her support and encouragement empowered me to keep going and not give up, and I was able to deliver our baby naturally and safely, aligning with my wishes. I don't know how I would've gotten through any of it without her. Not only was she in my corner, she was also a huge support to my husband and mother who were also in the room with me. I'm thankful to say that my birth plan was not only respected, but honored and Julie made sure of that! It was the most beautiful, emotional, incredible experience. Additional to all of the wonderful things Julie did for us, she also tastefully captured every beautiful moment in which we will forever cherish. Just all around an amazing experience, I can't express this enough!!! Julie is the most kind, loving person with the biggest heart. I've never met anyone that is more perfect for this role, and her dedication to my well-being and that of my baby went far beyond her role as a Doula. If you’re thinking about hiring Julie to assist in your birth, think no further. The answer is YES! Julie is so professional and her years of experience and extensive knowledge helped me and my husband so much throughout my pregnancy and especially the birth. She is truly one of a kind and we consider her forever apart of our family. She will answer any questions and assist in any concerns you may have. Julie is one of the most dedicated, loving, and godly person I’ve ever met. She loves what she does and it shows. My birth plan didn’t pan out the way we had hoped in the end, but Julie was there the whole time. Literally, from 4am until 11pm when our daughter was born. Julie was an absolute angel for our family. She was a part of our journey from the moment we found out we were pregnant. At 30 weeks we found out that our daughter would have some severe birth defects. Julie stayed up to date and in communication with us throughout the whole process. We ended up having to do a 37 week induction and on the morning of, we found no heartbeat. Julie rushed there as fast as she could and supported us in every way imaginable. She grieved with us while still supporting the labor. She also connected us with every non profit we needed and documented the birth. We couldn’t have gone through the most difficult moment of our lives without her. If you’re looking for a compassionate, loving, and supportive in all scenarios doula-Julie is the one for you.

There are not enough words to express how truly AMAZING Julie is. We hired Julie later in my pregnancy after deciding we wanted to try for a VBAC. She met with us several times and helped us to feel so empowered and comforted with our decision. Julie is a one of a kind woman. I can’t express how blessed me and my family were to have her there in the labor room while my baby boy was being born. Going into my first appointment to the very end not only was Julie very informative and attentive to everything we wanted to know, but she always makes sure to make you feel heard and loved. During pregnancy at 18 weeks I had third degree burns, then at 22 weeks I was thrown off a horse. She made sure I was taken care of gave me the strength to know everything was going to be okay. I was in labor for 15 hours, having Julie there to comfort not only me and my partner but also to comfort my whole support team in the labor room. Julie is absolutely amazing! We hired her to help us prepare/advocate for the birth of our first child. She is so knowledgeable, compassionate, and supportive. She was always quick to respond with helpful, researched info to any questions we had. She was always reassuring and helped ease my mind when needed. She was incredible support for both me and my husband during our labor. Even when a few things didn’t go as planned during our birth, she made me feel safe. We especially loved her heart for Jesus, as well, and felt that her entire service is very much rooted in showing pregnant mamas His love for both them and their baby. Julie really made such an impact for our birth story and I wouldn’t change one thing. We met throughout my pregnancy to learn more about my body, the process, and tips/tricks for delivery. My baby is a couple months old now, and I have been thinking about how to put my appreciation for Julie into words since the day I gave birth. Having Julie be a part of our birth story was easily one of the best decisions we've ever made. At the hospital after my son was born, even my husband said, "it felt like we gained another family member" {talking about Julie}. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable, but in our meetings with her throughout pregnancy, we became equipped with the knowledge and resources we needed to make my dream birth a reality. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I experienced severe hip pain that limited my ability to walk. Julie was always just a text away, and recommended a chiropractor that greatly helped the pain and improved my mobility. I was induced, and at the start of my labor I was struggling mentally and doubting my ability to do it without an epidural. When Julie arrived to the hospital, it all changed. She provided so much mental and physical support through my double contraction pattern and back labor, that I no longer doubted if I could do it. My baby was also sunny side up, and she and my husband worked for hours to flip the baby (which they did!!!) to ensure a smooth delivery. Having Julie be a part of our birth story also allowed my husband to be more involved mentally and physically- hosing me down in the shower, flipping the baby, counter pressure on my back, affirmations, you name it- and I had the support. After the birth, my husband was with our baby and Julie stayed right by my side. This being our first pregnancy, it was a lot of unknown. It gave us so much peace to have her with us throughout pregnancy and at the birth. Once Julie arrived at the hospital to labor with us, I truly felt so much support it's hard to put into words. I am SO appreciative for her services and truly don't know if I would have been able to do it without her. It's funny, even my husband tells everyone we know that our doula is the best decision we've ever made! We will 100% be working with Julie for our next pregnancy and birth story. Where do I even begin. Julie was incredible to have as a support, teacher, and comforter during my labor. She had so many great tools and techniques to try when my contractions weren’t progressing. I felt like I couldn’t keep laboring a few times and told her, she nudged me forward in a very positive and loving way. She also was able to take some photos of me during the process and I will cherish them forever!! Julie is full of love and I felt that the entire time during my pregnancy and labor. I highly recommend using her services!!

After a c-section with my first, I was really wanting a VBAC for my second. Julie was there to answer any/all questions and most importantly, discuss all options so that we were making informed decisions. She also made sure that both my support people (husband and mom) felt comfortable and knowledgeable about their roles during the birth. We achieved the unmedicated VBAC we had been hoping for with Julie’s help and our wonderful midwife! Julie answered every call/text/question/concern (even the late night/weekend ones) and continued to be there for us into the postpartum phase. Having anybody else in the room during this type of intimate experience was a concern of mine but Julie quickly put me at ease with her warmth and loving energy. Without knowing it, she also helped me process the anxious feelings I still had about my first birth experience. My husband, my mom and I all loved working with her and recommend her to all our pregnant friends/family! Julie is an absolute gem.
